Good enough but not 5 star
Location was good. Close to train station and enough places to eat n drink at.
I was charged for my stay on arrival even though booking.com had already charged my card. Hotel had a funky smell and sections of the carpets look mouldy. Too many stairs including to get to the small pool which was 1.2m deep. Not suitable for kids that can't swim or are shorter than that. Room service n housekeeping kept getting my request wrong n the room wasn't properly restocked from the last guests; missing water, a glass. Bed topper was wonky, not fitted properly, not comfortable. Had to wipe down certain items that were dirty; TV remote, tissue box, kettle. Parking fee advice was wrong. Hotel apparently validate for $30/day but when asked, was told weekend parking was cheaper already with Secure at $15/day. When I went to pay, was charged $54 for Friday after coming in at 230pm. Confusing, overpriced, overrated...never again. When I checked out, with the same person that checked me in, didn't even ask how my stay was. Took the room cards and barley even said bye. Couldn't care less.

Location location location
The lack of an upgrade for my 50th birthday I am not a football club that spends a lot of money with your hotel but I am a very good customer spending 10K plus this year alone . I have another 3 years of this due to my son’s schooling in Melbourne. The $200 you saved by not upgrading me might of cost you 50 more stays . Sometimes trying to be clever / cheap to loyal customers backfires and old school values still work and have merit !,
